Couldn’t have even told you there was a video on the page. I mostly browse the news while I’m at work, avoiding doing work. I have trained myself to ignore videos on news articles because I can’t have the sound on. So yeah, info in a video embedded on a news site doesn’t exist for me.

The last time one of our photogs saw Catherine was at LAX in February 2024 … when we asked her what role she would most want to be remembered for.
Author then neglects to say what her answer was now that it is most relevant…

141·3 days agoIt’s been everything I needed it to be in a streaming box, performance and software-wise. I’ve had one 2017 model die and get replaced. Replacement box eventually had a fan bearing go bad. I asked Nvidia if they could sell me a replacement fan and they RMA’d the whole unit, even outside warranty, IIRC. I eventually ended up buying the 2019 model, and I haven’t had a problem with that one yet, aside from the remote buttons getting crumbs in them and there’s no way to disassemble the remote to clean it out.

According to Justin Timberlake, Andy Samberg, and Lady Gaga, it’s not gay when it’s in a three-way. Just ignore the context from the video and the line that comes after, and you’re good.

3·6 days agoProbably 4-6 months ago I finally reached my breaking point. Facebook used to be centered around friends. Sure, most of them are now dormant on the platform, but for those that were still active, they were still buried amongst piles of far-right bullshit that I never asked for and that wouldn’t go away no matter how much I clicked “see less like this.” I deleted the Android app and logged in via mobile browser. I still occasionally check the happenings in my industry’s Facebook groups and my HOA, but Facebook is otherwise dead to me.
CoJack (now deceased): CoJack Kitty, Bitch, Bitch-ass Cat, CoJack Bitch-ass Kitty, and Meowsellus Wallace ('cause he looked like a bitch)
Gouda: GobbleGouda (because for a while he took to making a garbled meow that sounded a bit like a turkey gobble), Fatass (he’s 21 pounds), Gouder, Puddle (because he melts into a fluffy blob when he loafs)
Romano: 'Mano, hesagoodboy
George: Geeeooorge (in a shrill voice because it weirds him out), Potato (because he’s a bit on the roly-poly side and also seems to have the mental capacity of a potato)
Meeka: mostly just Meeka, but sometimes Precious Kitty. She didn’t really used to be vocal until we found her root ailment was stomatitis and we had all her teeth removed. Now she’s a lot happier and yells at us when we sing-song her name at her.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do you wish you'd have known before you started your hobby(s)?
20·18 days agoMy boss pushed us to research and acquire a resin printer a couple years ago. My coworker pushed the high-budget Form Labs direction due to his poor experience with resin printing in college. I had zero experience with resin (mostly only used Prusa FDM at that time) and pushed toward the relatively low budget Anycubic Photon direction, from the standpoint of “this is really not what we need to be doing with our budget, and this doesn’t make sense for our use case, so I’ll try to waste less money.”
Now that my coworker’s been gone for over a year, my boss thinks no one uses it because we don’t know how. I know how, but FDM is just so much more approachable. I can swap filaments, click print, and walk away in about two minutes and trust that I’ll come back to a usable part.
Changing out resin is its own special hell, and good luck if you have a print fail and have to clean off the bottom of the tray. I didn’t get to a point of trusting prints to finish. Even when it does finish, you still have to wash and cure, and every part I ever made in resin seemed to be dimensionally unstable. Even the sample parts a Form Labs rep sent us were badly warped in shipping. The Photon hasn’t been used in well over a year. CEO wants us to get rid of it, and I agree. Boss isn’t letting go.
Meanwhile we just got two P2S printers that are cranking out parts like a champ. I would rather take a leisurely stroll across Eastern Ukraine than print with resin ever again.
