House on the right looks like its about to erode into the river. Maybe we can get a discount “while it lasts”
Public Enemy - Say It Like It Really Is - especially the video.

Hey, glad to hear you’re joining us. FYI it isn’t me putting it on, it’s this person: https://mastodon.social/@Taweret@timeloop.cafe/115956866915992852

In Japan, an itasha (痛車; literally “painful” or “cringeworthy”[1][2] + “car”) is a car decorated with images of characters from anime, manga, or video games (especially bishōjo games or eroge). The decorations usually involve paint schemes and stickers. The cars are seen prominently in places such as Akihabara (Tokyo), Nipponbashi (Osaka), or Ōsu (Nagoya), or Itasha-based events, such as Odaiba Itasha Tengoku.

p.s. I think it’s cool, I wouldn’t own one but wtf you be you
Piefed Game Changer number 1: Custom feeds, ex:
that way I can look at non-tech non-politics stuff (either few memes or all memes) when I want.
Piefed Game Changer number 2: Scheduled posts. That way when I got free time I can make a bunch of posts and schedule them over the next couple days or weeks.
I still keep a Lemmy account bc a couple things are still easier there. Plus to see what the posts look like to other people.
The other day the house cat came into my room, coughed up a huge one, and then casually sauntered out (refusing to elaborate.)
They ran the numbers and decided they don’t need you. are you going to stick around there even when they treat you like shit? Take what you can from there, but it’s not your “home”.

hell I’d chill up there all day if I fit and it held my weight…

All this is background for the following advice: Figure out what professors in your university are likely “in the loop” with professors in Europe. Do this by looking at their web pages, social media, etc. and seeing which ones have published recently. (it does not have to be a European venue or with European collaborators.) Especially look at professors you have taken classes with, especially if you did well. Then go talk to those professors and ask them for advice and leads. At minimum they will tell you the good schools to go to. If you did any projects for them, get a recc letter. If you’re really lucky maybe they’ll put you in touch with someone.
btw that whole paragraph about cultural depictions of male competence – I agree that we are all subject to oppresive social structures, but if you’re not careful that can start to sound insensitive. and it’s not really relevant to your larger point, I’d avoid it in your upcoming conversations.

ooh I was thinking of this person: https://hachyderm.io/@combatwombat
I didn’t realize there was a whole platoon of such wombats.

Oh, hey, are you the same Combat Wombat from the mastodon watch parties?

Just in case no Japanese people answer, check this out for comparison:
My guess is the kid’s asking for a favor, but making a bit of a joke about it.

She said she’s a traditional girl, etc. I took that to mean … So I rambled about…
That right there is where you oughta be doing a lot more listening than assuming.

Wow, thanks!
idk how to help you, but this image helped me:
