as a former tech support person I think the reason why its usually like that is that most of the people who call in are people don’t know how to use a computer at least it was for the company I worked at

Yea I was annoyed that they were making me sign up for google+ for my youtube account so I never tried it I just set it up so I could keep using youtube.

I mean legaly you’re right but free speech as a concept still applies to private companies they just dont have to follow it

You dont even need to go to a new instance you can just join another comunity on a different server

They made the admins sign nda’s so its unlikely we will hear anything about it

I don’t expect my data to be fully deleted in a centralized system either. even if it was deleted from the central server someone might have made an archive of it
and reddit is definitely guilty of this since they were bringing back peoples deleted comments and accounts

You remove the downvotes you juat get people more people in the comments with “you’re an idiot” or whatever instead of just a downvote.
It’s not like those kinds of comments are really that nuanced or helpfull either.

I’m guessing its because they were used to doing that on reddit
I think the us is worse because I live there they might use this data against me what can china do to me?
If you live In china though…

I feel like the problem with moving away from youtube is that the larger chanels making money off of it arent going to want to move because they wont get monitized if they do. If they do move it will probably be to another corperate platform.
I really dont like what youtube is planning on doing by restricting adblockers and adding more unskippable ads though. Hopefully that moves at least some people to peertube.

does a comment/post really need hundreds of comments saying similar things it also helps to hide spam content and trolls
when I worked at walmart some people would get so offended if I suggested wearing the opposite genders clothes even if the item was basically the same for males and females.
a polo shirt for men is cheaper and you’re probably just wearing it because of your workplace why does it matter?

the problem is that google takeout does not let me export my subs for some reason so I haven’t really used it. (it says no data found)
also google sent them a legal notice

please can youtube be next?
I really want to stop using my google account and that’s the only thing keeping me from moving away from it.
Some of that is from management being strict about following the procedures we have to make sure every step is followed or we get in trouble so even if someone seems knowledgable we have to treat them like they aren’t
