I imagine even if he dies during the term republican leadership will Weekend at Bernies him for the remainder of the term to continue to use him as a scapegoat for all the evil shit they want to do.
Which a stock market crash does in the long term. They are better positioned to weather a recession then anyone else and during a recession there is ample opportunities to buy property and ownership from those that couldn’t weather it, further centralized wealth among the billionaires. In another way, think of covid, did you see many huge corporations go out of business? No, but i know a ton of small businesses that couldn’t weather the storm and went out of business, guess who gets to replace them when consumers look for their wares.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump wants to wind down FEMA. Could states fill the gap? Shuttering the disaster agency could leave poor and rural communities exposed.
5·11 months agoBad thing about putting disaster response to the state is that they can decide not to serve a city based on political leanings. Not that this couldn’t be done at the national level, but harder at least. Gov. Abbot did this during Hurricane Harvey to Houston with state funds. Houston had been one of the biggest bastions of democratic voters during the recent elections so they rewrote their state disaster relief funds stipulations to severely underfund areas with high population density.

Yes, when we had Fauci allowing vaccines through. Without the health secretary allowing and pushing vaccines out and you know, not actively hiding a pandemic as I’m sure RFK will. I think rates would have been much higher on both sides.

Used car markets are highly localized markets and depending on demand in the area can fluctuate wildly, just because you got a steal on a 14 year old car 3 years ago doesn’t mean other people aren’t struggling to find an affordable used car now.
