Yeah, there would be no point in relying on China as a new favored trading partner, but as one among (hopefully) many, it could maybe work out. Absolutely agree that building stronger partnerships with liberal democracies should be the top priority, but I’m guessing some of the potential partners will need some time to go through the stages of grief…

As I recall it, he addressed this by saying that future agreements and deals would need to be more pragmatic, with partners that don’t necessarily share all their values. It sucks to have to make deals with the ccp, but that’s exactly the new order.

My moral convictions are more of the situational kind… In this case, I don’t know enough about the particular events to actually have a qualified opinion, and it’s not important enough to me to do the research. I’m content to dislike the ccp for being an oppressive near-dictatorship under Xi, and this random church I’ve never heard of for indoctrinating children (which all churches do, or they’d soon go extinct). On the balance, I probably dislike the heavyhandedness of the reaction more than the religious practice in this instance, but not with any strong conviction.

I can easily dislike both.

Also note that the python visualizer tool has been basically written by vibe-coding. I know more about analog filters – and that’s not saying much – than I do about python. It started out as my typical “google and do the monkey-see-monkey-do” kind of programming, but then I cut out the middle-man – me – and just used Google Antigravity to do the audio sample visualizer.

If Moscow manages to force a ceasefire in Ukraine, I’m not sure they can go back to peacetime production without collapsing, so they might be forced to continue to build offensive capacity. Europe, on the other hand, would be happy to pretend we’re back to normal, and if you add Russian psyops and American unreliability to the mix it’s not hard to be pessimistic.
