While the second one is hilarious, it doesn’t sound lesbiany enough. So my vote is on “I like your mom”.
I meant the other white shirt, the one that the lady in a grey hat wears.
Black shirt in the back clearly says “Titties sucker”, but I can’t guess what the white shirt says.

So,I hate to admit it, but let me go against the pack here. Tariffs unfortunately work as Trump is claiming they work, but not for the reason he thinks. You see, while the US customers are the ones that will fit the bill, this isn’t the whole story.
Canadian businesses will try to lower their prices to stay competitive. And our governments (federal and provincials) have already stated that they will help businesses and workers as much as they can, probably with subsidies.
Every time a Canadian businesses lower it’s price to stay competitive with the tariffs and every time our governments pay subsidies to help with that, Canadians are effectively paying for Trump’s tariffs. (Note that this will have been 100% true with a small tariff, but 25% is too much to absorb, so part of the cost will go towards US customers).
With that in mind, counter-tarrifs makes perfect sense, but the assumption here is that US and states governments will help US businesses hit by the tariffs. We may be wrong on this part

2·1 year agoI can’t see how this would work. The “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” part refers to the children born in the US, not their parents. But don’t quote me on this, I’m not a lawyer.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can someone explain the framework of the current British... idk is empire the correct term?
6·1 year agoWhen I became a Canadian citizen, around a decade ago, I pledged fealty to Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada.
So, Canada (and probably Australia too) is a kingdom different from the United Kingdom, that happens to have the same monarch. Different crowns, same person under it. Given that the British monarch only retains a ceremonial role in every country that they “rules”, having the same one doesn’t make a lot of differences from having our separate one.

26·2 years agoMost people will think traffic behave like water that you need to send through a network of pipes. It is not, traffic is made of humans and humans reactions will make traffic behave wildly differently than waters in pipes.
- Some people and businesses will move next to the new highway for its supposed ease of access, creating traffic
- some people might change their habits and go shopping to this place instead of that place, or getting a job far away from their home (or a home far away from home)
The exact reasons for the increase in traffic is complex and my example could be totally off. But we don’t need to know the exact reason for the increase in traffic, we know it happens because it has been observed on every road enlargement projects in the last decades.

44·2 years agoBasically all i kno about haiti is: only country to successfully throw off colonizers
Not exactly. Other countries have done that (the US for example). What sets Haiti apart is that they are the first and only successful slave revolt. Slaves gained their freedom through revolt, which terrified every nations that used slaves (basically every Western powers and their colonies at the time).

You mean, killing the new born by throwing it over the cliff, Sparta-style ?
