1·3 years agoI wish either of the IKEA devices measured more. I picked up an Awair Element used off eBay and set it up to provide data locally. The C02 sensor in particular has been really enlightening.

3·3 years agoI used a self-hosted Nextcloud for a while. It was pretty close to a Google drive stand in. I believe it had similar browser playback for videos

1·3 years agoThe apps I’ve tried thus far on iOS make this process much easier than the web clients. I think with a little refinement, most users could have a “reddit-esque” experience without fully knowing how the federation works under the hood.

I haven’t done any Signal app recruiting in my circle of contacts (in fact, I don’t think I’ve talked to anyone about it) and I have 14 contacts that have it installed at the very least. I don’t think it would be a huge push to make Signal more prevalent.
The uphill battle is making a dent in iMessage adoption, which seems to be deeper and deeper entrenched every day.
