1·4 months agoI watched this unfold as it happened. It kind of left a bad taste in my mouth after that.

14·4 months agoYup. Don’t use or support Ladybird, especially since it’s made by anti-inclusivity “keep your ‘political’ gender-neutral pronouns out of our READMEs” nerdbros.
On the other hand, Servo is coming along nicely.

Technology@lemmy.world•Google Just Disabled Cookies for 30 Million Chrome Users. Here’s How to Tell If You’re One of Them | It’s the beginning of the end in Google’s plan to kill cookies foreverEnglish
3·2 years agoThey definitely used to, but haven’t for a long time. It’s been viewed as an unreliable and poor practice, especially with browsers like Safari and Firefox which have already disabled 3rd Party Cookies for some time now (or at least providing the option to, as a privacy feature).
Now CORS, OAUTH, and similar mechanisms do a better, more private, and more secure job of sharing state and authentication across domains and groups of services.

91·2 years agoExcept Siri processing is actually done on your device, as of iOS 15. Which kind of blew my mind when it was announced.
Nothing is sent to Apple unless you request an online service (such as weather, maps, etc.) or unless you allow your recordings to be sent.
Try it: in airplane mode on an iOS 15 device: Siri still works at a basic level. Language processing happens locally.
Was this about AI or about how shitty their drive-thru is currently.
Because this is what it feels like currently. I’d hate to hear what happens when it’s all AI.
