Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Realities of hosting a tor relay node at homeEnglish
8·9 months agoI’m a Tor relay operator. For years, I ran a Tor guard/middle relay, but I often ran into issues with certain services and websites that would blacklist my IP address within days of changing it. After dealing with that for a long time, I eventually got tired of the hassle and switched to running a Tor bridge instead, to help people bypass censorship in authoritarian countries. I think it’s a better fit for a home connection.

4·1 year agoNope, it is the same. Bittorrent have a lot more users than eMule and then you have more possibilities to find a peer with ports forwarded. 2 peers Without port forwarded can not share content.

3·1 year agoThe problem with HighID/LowID on eMule is the same on bittorrent or any other p2p, you need someone with port forwarding to upload/download content. In my case I am out of cg-nat and sharing 24/7.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•What happened to networks like eMule, WinMX, DC++, and so on?English
3·1 year agoWell usually FHD, good availability of recent and old stuff, there is a good community of French, Italian and Spanish stuff with English sub. Probably if you prefer 4k and above, torrent is better.

I still use mldonkey 24/7 for ed2k/kad and torrent. It works flawlessly.
