With v29 (release probably in march) they are changing the UI framework, the last thing preventing it on any other OSs. In the latest live stream on YouTube they hinted that they would look into a Linux port if there is enough interest. 3 of 4 hosts in the stream gave a thumbs up for Linux, so there is hope.

Compared to other CAD its cheap as hell. Especially if you don’t need the all features, you can get Atom3D for less than 300€. For everyone interested: wait for promotions, the price is heavily discounted a few times per year.

Alibre is quite good. All the features I need, price is OK. If you don’t need all the features Alibre Atom3D can be bought for 250€, the full version starts at 1000€. That’s really cheap for CAD. The only thing missing is Linux support.

For the back there is a cover directly from Surefeed which you have to buy separately (again, expensive for a cheaply made plastic cover). For the front there are 3D printable covers like this. If you don’t have a 3D printer, people sell these covers on eBay.

And I think there is a mode where the feeder closes when the wrong chip is detected, even if the correct chip is detected at the same time.

Surefeed pet feeder is your solution. Stupidly expensive for what it does, but it works. The feeder opens only to the microchip of the cat it has been programmed for.
