If you want you can install starship, which provides a lot of the nifty prompt customization I see in other people’s zsh configs. I’ve been using it with bash for a few months now and like it a lot.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Any recommendations of countries to block from server logins?English
1·3 years agoI would say white-list instead of black-list if possible.
Beside the point, have you considered the reasons why you might not want to run your own email server in todays age? It’s a fun experience for sure, but if you want it for serious use it’s not for the faint of heart (unfortunately).
Edit: also lol to your friend unknowingly conducting a spam campaign from your server

Technology@lemmy.world•Google raising price of YouTube Premium to $13.99 per monthEnglish
3·3 years agoNot really though? Apple makes good hardware and operating systems, and generally have a good privacy-forward stance when it comes to software (in my opinion).
Unfortunately it’s not as cut and dry as “use Gentoo” - if my ad revenue is potentially worth x, lemme just pay x for the service. I know I’m not alone in this sense.

2·3 years agoOh yeah. When you put it that way, it’s totally understandable.
But now I’ve betrayed the fact that I’m willing to pay a lot for community driven content :D
Still switching around as soon as I’m back at my PC though

3·3 years agoI’ve heard about it but didn’t realize someone like google would blatantly do this. SMH
On PC, I’ve never watched ads. Only bought premium after getting an iPhone 2 years ago.
Appreciate being able to support creators while not watching ads ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯ , lot of good that did me.

121·3 years agoWait, what the FUCK!?!
This price increase is live for new subscribers as seen on youtube.com/premium. Instead of $11.99, YouTube Premium now costs $13.99/month. Meanwhile, it’s $18.99 if you’re subscribing from the iOS YouTube app.
I’ve been paying $4/month over market rate this whole time?

Memes@lemmy.ml•Random internet people explaining math better then math teacher
141·3 years agoNot really sure if this answers your question (I agree with you, ultimately), but here’s my experience:
At the college I attended, these sigma/pi expressions weren’t taught until the end of Calculus 2, but I wanted to take an Algorithms class - which had calc 2 as a prerequisite.
I got an exception from my advisor which allowed me to take Algorithms before the pre-req. In my experience, these concepts were easily learned in the context of algorithmic complexity.
Some might be barred from learning important theory in computer science by “brutal” math classes at university. They might find solace in this post which translates sigma into ‘for’

I saw this post in my mind’s eye. It was only a matter of time
