Someone tell her condoms exist and it’s men’s job to buy and wear them. Prevention is both genders responsibility. If they make a pill for men I’ll happily take it.

linuxmemes@lemmy.world•mine is Atlantis Word Processor, what's yours
5·5 months agoThe one reason I shamefully went back to dual booting is because of sim racing. Logitech wheels are the only ones with official Linux support, Fanatec has reverse engineered open source drivers but that’s about it, and as for the actual games a lot of them are unfortunately shaky or don’t run at all on Linux. ACC for example works without problem, while iRacing from what I recall is still technically possible to run, but will get you banned because its anti cheat doesn’t work.
Eggs are only good boiled, not fried or scrambled, I will die on that hill

Linux@lemmy.ml•What's your favorite DE, and what does your workflow look like?
3·1 year agoAfter a lot of jumping around I settled for Plasma, with just the default dark theme plus a few minor tweaks and that’s it. It’s super easy to use and it runs pretty smoothly now unlike 5+ years ago. I was into the whole tiling wm rabbithole for a while but got bored of it and I mostly just want everything fullscreen so I wasn’t even making use of the tiling.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•How did a simple phone call become so problematic?
5·1 year agoYeah but why phone calls? Slack or some equivalent is just superior in every way.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•How did a simple phone call become so problematic?
192·1 year agoPeople in the comments claiming it’s social anxiety but I have no problem talking to people face to face or in an internet-based voice or video call. But phone calls are just ass. The audio quality sucks, I barely understand what the other person says and I don’t get to choose when and where it happens, might be one or both people are in some noisy situation etc and it’s just all around so awkward. I also think it’s kinda rude. A message is “Hey I want to exchange X information, reply whenever you want”, a call is “YOU WILL PAY ATTENTION TO ME RIGHT NOW”. It’s also incredibly annoying when some official place insists on phone calls only. Fucking brilliant, now I have to take half an hour of my day queueing and/or calling repeatedly to get done what I would have typed out in half a minute as an email. It’s even worse if it’s them who call you. “You will get a call from us in the next 3 days”. Now I have to be on fucking high alert to be available at that exact time or the back and forth missed calls start. Instead of just receiving an email and replying whenever.
Edit: not to even mention that text is permanent and can be referenced later while calls are not
Obviously work has to be done, but if the 1% wasn’t hoarding all the value we’re creating, we’d be able to work less AND be better off. How is it that in an era of technology and automation, we still have to work 40 hour weeks if not more, yet a large percentage of the population can barely afford the basics? Some will always be wealthier than others of course, but no person needs billions of dollars, especially not while others are starving.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Having to use windows at work makes me appreciate my desktop Linux experience at home.
6·1 year agoThe funniest thing is it doesn’t even have to be this way with Windows. I’ve unfortunately had to go back to dual booting lately but I’m using Win 10 LTSC and I have to say I’m surprised how tolerable it is. I’d still rather not use it but eeh it’s fine.
Could it survive the stomach acid?
I’d be fine with it if it didn’t also taste exactly like what it is, a shitty low quality by-product, it’s low key dog food. Actual ham is fire tho.
