Trying to isolate out “emotional baggage” is not how language works. A term means something and applies somewhere. Generative models do not have the capacity to hallucinate. If you need to apply a human term to a non-human technology that pretends to be human, you might want to use the term “confabulate” because hallucination is a response to stimulus while confabulation is, in simple terms, bullshitting.

It doesn’t, it generates incorrect information. This is because AI doesn’t think or dream, it’s a generative technology that outputs information based on whatever went in. It can’t hallucinate because it can’t think or feel.

And I’m disagreeing that pedophiles can’t help their feelings. This dialogue only occurs because of the recent conflation between sexuality and pedophilia. I’ve always been of the opinion that they need to see a professional, and that needs to be a non-negotiable. I reject any conversation on their feelings being a choice because as evidenced in this thread, people conflate ideas that apply to sexuality to pedophiles. I just responded to someone who accused me of arguing for conversion therapy. It’s pedophilia, it needs to stay stigmatised because of how huge the consequences are if they act on it.

It is important to mind the language we use and how it affects things and people. Softening language around pedophilia does not serve a better society. I agree that society is harsh on pedophiles. It is rightfully so, because the consequence of acting on these thoughts is massive for the other. Harshness is necessary because these thoughts should be treated as vile, repulsive, and something to get rid of. It is tricky to approach seeking help with something perceived as repulsive, but pedophiles can take solace that counsellors are confidential, trained professionals who will refer them to someone else if they cannot handle the subject.

If there is a conscious being that cannot consent, object, or otherwise appropriately respond to one’s attraction, then that attraction should not be held onto. Ways should be explored to move past that attraction, whether they be through counselling or self reflection.

“MAP” is not a part of queer communities or cultures, stop trying to make that the case. First off we need to stop softening the language around them and call them pedophiles, because that’s what they are, whether they act upon it or not. They should seek therapy because sexual attraction to children is not an acceptable part of society.

Bizarre equivalencies here. Firstly, regardless of my personal beliefs on large age gaps, those are consenting adults. You’re equating them to children. Children are not consenting adults, it is a problem if you feel sexual attraction to them. Same thing with animals. They cannot consent. You have some really messed up ideals if you’re equating psychiatry and therapy, especially modern-day versions of them, to conversion therapy forced onto gay people. This is exactly why I called it excusatory MAP bullshit because you go right down this slippery slope. Being sexually attracted to children is not a sexuality.

Yeah, but prefaced it by saying you can’t help who or what you’re attracted to. Right out of the MAP playbook. The thoughts and attraction in itself is a problem and requires counselling because “children” are not a sexuality. You can and should help what you’re attracted to when that what is a child! If you’re having suicidal thoughts, you should see a counsellor. If you’re having thoughts about harming others, you should see a counsellor. If you’re having thoughts about diddling kids, you. should. see. a. counsellor.

“MAP” type excusatory bullshit, fuck off. Pedophilia is not a sexuality because “child” is not a sex or gender expression.

It’s not the only step, it’s just that half the country has lost its mind and that half seems to have itchy trigger fingers. Meanwhile a huge part lives paycheck to paycheck where they’re not able to just leave and strike to starve themselves and their dependents. Capitalism has the country by the balls.

I’m a designer, I don’t know a single designer - from school or work - who doesn’t know what the terminal is. Sure I don’t really know how to use it but that’s because I grew up on Win 7 and later, where GUIs ruled. Most designers are pretty tech literate, it’s half the difference between us and fine arts folk.

London is an outlier quoted as the rule. London attracted rich people from all over the world with tax cuts and benefits. The leeches leeched and predictably contributed nothing. Since this is unsustainable, they raised taxes again. Wealth flight occured because the people that left had only moved there for the tax savings. London was not their home, they never tried to make it their home.

Ah I see, that makes a lot of sense. I don’t really watch tv, I pull out my phone when I eat food. Or I’m studying on my laptop and youtube is easy when I take a break. I guess computers are so portable now it’s really easy for me to hop on youtube rather than pay subscriptions or find torrents and go through a show.

A lot of my work also involves just sight and some mental power so having youtube running on a second monitor where I can glance occasionally keeps me going much longer than I would otherwise.

Haven’t heard a pewdiepie mention in years, but yeah, I agree. Add comedy and cars to the mix too though.

That’s true of everything on the internet these days though. I don’t think they overshadow the good, I think it’s more important than ever to seek out and appreciate the good.
