6·1 month agoIt sure is! The monochrome sensors are also great for narrowband imaging, where the filters let through one specific wavelength of light (like hydrogen alpha) which lets you do false color imaging.
IR is basically the same. Here’s the page on JWST’s filters. No clue about xray scopes, but IIRC they don’t use any kind of traditional CMOS or CCD sensor.

7·1 month agoAt least for astronomy, you just have one sensor (they’re all CMOS nowadays) and rotate out the RGB filters in front of it.
It was a gift ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

8·8 months agoI know a few attendings that use it for dictation. It’ll record the entire convo with the patient, plus whatever the doc dictates to it, and by the time they’re out of the room a note is typed up in the right format they wouldn’t have to stare at the computer the whole visit. According to them it’s a lot more time efficient to have it dictate the notes and double check them at the end of the day, versus typing something up after every patient. It is approved by the hospital and integrated directly into the EMR, so I guess it’s HIPAA compliant
I truly hope the starship program succeeds just so he can fuck off to mars already

The STOP-BANG questionnaire is good to get at least some idea of if you have sleep apnea or not. Def talk to your doctor about it! Untreated sleep apnea can lead to some pretty bad health problems later on (a-fib, coronary disease, stokes, hypertension) in addition to just being tired as shit all the time
