No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What would be needed to create a feedback loop where cars that shine their ligghts at my apartment get a stronger foglight blasted back at them?
5·19 days agoIt actually sounds like you might need a little dose of forced empathy based on your post and comments. I understand you are angry about this, but thinking that they must be immigrants or dog/ child abusers because they left their lights on? That’s not normal. Get yourself better curtains or consider moving to a different apartment before you do something stupid that you’ll regret when you grow up.

310·20 days agoML isn’t AI, but a lot of people (companies trying to make money) have started branding it as AI.
I know you said it, but counting on family support when you are elderly is such a gamble. I know so many people that moved away from family or their kids are too busy with their own lives to support. Many people get out into a home and visited a few times a year.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do Kiwis love Museli? What is the history?
7·1 month agoBircher museli (Swiss) and museli (also called granola) are two different things.
The first is a mixture of yogurt, milk, apples, other fruits, dried fruit, seeds, nuts, and grains. It is typically prepared the day before and is mushy.
The second is a dry mixture of grains, seeds, nuts, and dried fruit. Kiwis eat the dry stuff instead of breakfast cereal over yogurt or milk and it is crunchy. It is generally eaten over breakfast cereal because it is considered healthier.

World News@lemmy.world•New Zealanders are leaving the country in record numbers, mainly to AustraliaEnglish
2·2 months agoIt really isn’t politics. New Zealand is very isolated from other countries, so the price of imported goods are high. It is also a small nation that is primarily farms, so there isn’t much room for development and home prices are high. It has a small steel industry but otherwise there isn’t a lot of manufacturing unless it is related to dairy.

World News@lemmy.world•New Zealanders are leaving the country in record numbers, mainly to AustraliaEnglish
4·2 months agoNew Zealand has had a constant outflow of people to other countries that ebbs and flows for at least 40 years. I left during a previous surge. Home prices are too high, wages are too low, and better opportunities can be found abroad. When other economies start slowing down, a lot of people return to NZ.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's that longest time you went without eating? Why?
3·4 months agoFour weeks. I have Crohn’s disease and had perforated my bowel roughly 15 years ago. I wasn’t allowed anything by mouth and was on a saline drip for 3 weeks. After my surgery I was on TPN for another week before I was allowed to eat anything. I went from 185lbs to 130lbs and it took about 6 months to get back up to 160lbs.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do most ppl feel the desire to tell someone (such as their SO) about their day?
3·6 months agoFor me, not at all. It just doesn’t even cross my mind to talk about my day unless something major happened. Some people can tell stories about anything and everything and for me it just doesn’t register as a thing to do.

31·6 months agoCanada didn’t integrate blockchain into agriculture on a whole. The article you linked was a pilot study.
I’ve used two MxMasters over the last 10+ years and I couldn’t be happier with them. I only replaced my first one because it was white and I couldn’t really clean the rubber scroll wheel properly. The new one has a metal scroll wheel and is much better.
We still pump it into the air via small aircraft!

It is less of a US thing, and more of a class thing. Expats are temporary work assignments overseas usually for high paying leadership positions.
