Not sure if its the same error I get, but one way to fix it in my experience is the ‘Uninstall Updates’ button (if you can’t find it in settings its sometimes shown in the play store).

Then you can install the app and it’ll update, because android doesn’t like ‘updating’ to a lower version number.

Another benefit is support for degoogled software (ironically) such as e/OS/ and GrapheneOS, if that’s your thing.
