  • I’ve just tried it. I can type these things and do searches, view the videos, whatever.

I will note, however, that my TikTok settings are very customized, even being on iOS. I’ve gone through every single setting, both within the app and within the iOS settings, and I’ve turned off anything and everything that can be turned off. TikTok sees virtually nothing. So, maybe I’m not blocked because all TikTok knows is that I’ve got an iPhone, I may or may not be in the US (I keep on VPN), and that I’m Trekkie who enjoys ASMR videos at night, but that’s about it.

  • It is literally called Intro Skipper and it requires the Media Segments API as well, if memory serves, because you can do some customization to help define the intro and outro that isn’t auto-recognized.

E.g., I created my own Mass Effect “show” that I loaded into my Jellyfin, and I don’t have a true “outro” for my episodes, so it just defaults to “Next Episode” with 30 seconds left. But I did create a specific intro for the “show”, and without it being a legit TV show, the intro automatically picked up the intro across the episodes and gives me an option to skip.

I can’t speak to Kodi, but you can check the project on GitHub: https://github.com/intro-skipper/intro-skipper

  • I would actually recommend Michael Crichton for an 11-year-old rather than King.

Jurassic Park, Sphere, Congo, Andromeda Strain; all fantastic novels that will be interesting without traumatizing a young reader.

I read King’s The Stand at age 11, and about halfway through it, I literally remember thinking, “I might be too young to be reading this…” If you are set on introducing King, Thinner is all right, but I think King’s writing is really best for teens (like 16+) and older.
