I have lived in Sweden my entire life and this, to me, sounds like just part of the picture. The public healthcare system is far from perfect and it can definitely be frustrating (and surely, in some cases, even a health risk) to wait for specialist care. However, my personal experience is that when really serious stuff happens this system works. My dad fell down from the roof of their house a couple of years ago and was unconscious when I found him (he’s alright - just a dummy not having any safety equipment). We were picked up by ambulance and in the ER not 15 minutes from my call.
That said, I’m 100% for a larger welfare sector. Lessen the vårdköer and offer arbetstidsförkortning for hospital staff

Even though this is a clear illustration of the level of maturity of these developments in European politics, I think it’s positive that the ideas exist outside just (parts of) the tech community

I was advised to try getting hold of a good screen (there’s some ”level of reflectiveness” measurement if I remember correctly) to project on. Then even a moderately bright projector will do
Finally making the switch from X to wayland this year since it’s now impossible to buy a laptop with standard-res screen and my god there’s still a lot of missing support and annoying glitches everywhere
Isn’t there something a bit too literal about this meme?
Reign again, thy machine

It’s a pretty steep hill for most people to make a full on switch like this. I have, for the past year or so just begun suggesting that people download the app (element for example) when the topic of evil tech companies comes up. At least that’s a first step. Then when such a topic comes up next time I ask if they tried it out etc. My hope has been that they would at least know one alternative when stuff like the recent Discord ID thing is happening
Wasn’t this a Blacklist episode?

I run a tuxedo both at home and for work. Build quality and support isn’t that great but you can’t get more specs for the money

Dang, your life sounds like a Noir narrator

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good boy with a gun

My take has always been (regardless of living in Europe or anywhere else) that these type of issues is exactly why we have states and municipalities at all. I.e to help each other solve basic life more efficiently. Of course there’s different takes on best strategies for this but I have a hard time seeing how Mamdanis policies around infrastructure and housing are extreme in any way

Hands down. Easiest choice of my life

Hey, just wanted to say I’m always grateful when someone calls out posts not linking to proper sources. Your doing good work, thanks!
I remembered I never finished Braid last week and played it - perfect on steam deck!
