Are you thinking about the situation from a purely individualistic point of view, in which families live completely apart? Intergenerational units are more common in some cultures than others, with everyone contributing to the same household. It would be the same reasoning of spouses getting an inheritance, but you might be against that as well.

I was annoyed too when I saw the message, but, if I understood it correctly, it’s a matter of widening the scope of the LTS version. The extra packages would only be updated on the next release, or are already updated if you don’t use LTS. Have you considered that you’re a people pleaser? Being kind and nice is good, but do you do that in detriment of yourself? Can you say no to favors?

That’s not good to hear. Encourage your friends to share their small grievances before it gets too bad. Preventive measures and all that.
