11·13 days agoWas that a comeback? I think we’re agreeing with each other here. It does matter if stuff is stolen, which all LLM generated stuff is. I was referring more to the environmental impacts and all, because I’m sick of ppl talking about copyright as if that’s what makes LLMs suck. Even if it was legal under copyright law, it’d still be awful on all fronts.

2·13 days agoLet’s be real here, the ethical concerns over LLM use far outweigh any copyright concerns and are the real reason people should refrain from using them in any way, shape, or form.

1·5 months agoOkay, I see. Thanks for the heads up. Are there any specific scalers I should consider for minimizing latency that you’re aware of?

1·5 months agoRight, thank you I’ll try to keep this in mind. What do you mean by the TV supporting it though? Like I said, CRTs have no pixels to the best of my understanding, so how would it be aware of the resolution in order to reject it? I can understand it causing problems, but how exactly can a CRT outright reject a signal like that?

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Converting HDMI to compositeEnglish
1·5 months agoThankfully, Mint allows me to output in 4:3 aspect ratio. Now, if the actual resolution will still be an issue, then yeah, I suppose I’ll need that. But if I send a converter a ~720p 4:3 signal and it outputs it to composite, what does it matter to the CRT that doesn’t have pixels anyway?

1·5 months agoSadly it does not take VGA but I do have an old laptop with native VGA out so I could convert that to composite easier. VGA is already an analog format, right?

1·5 months agoHmm, okay I’ll consider cheaper options. Thanks for the feedback. Latency isn’t too much to deal with I take it if you’ve been sing it for that long.

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•Converting HDMI to compositeEnglish
2·5 months agoFunny you say that, because I have an old laptop that has a native VGA output on board and I’m testing it out right now! It works and Mint outputs through it just fine, but I’d need to get a VGA to composite adapter. Buuuut, if I’m gonna do that, I might as well just get an HDMI to composite adapter for the compatibility.
Also, any USB to composite/s video/component adapters? That sounds like a great workaround.
Also yeah, I know latency will exist, but it can always be minimized.

7·5 months agoI assume you either mean financially or in terms of general support and word of mouth. Trust me, I wish I could be a dev so, so badly, but as interesting as code and computers are, I’m light years away from getting in there and being able to fuck with shit. I love learning about programming, but I’m not the best at actually learning it. lmao
I say, as I sit in a first level computer science class, typing this because I’m totally lost in the actual lecture.

5·5 months agoI’ll admit I don’t know how to best make it resemble anything ^^ When I went vegan I came to realize that most of the flavour of meat is in the seasoning, but I never cared if the tofu or whatever actually resembled the meat it was seasoned like.
Now you may ask how to season it properly, and I’d love to tell you, but I’m such a new cook that I can’t. Names of spices elude me, which is part of the reason I need strict recipes to remember how to do shit. I enjoy cooking, I just can’t remember any of it lmao
Tldr: I’d love to help you, but you happened to ask the most useless person for that advice hahaha I’m sorry

Except the ethical issues of LLMs are inherent to them. Get rid of the corporate aspect will not ease the most pressing issues with LLMs, as they are baked in.
