If you are person expecting others to help you with that, then sorry, you’re weird. It is always nice if someone just does and yes, often someone does help, doesn’t matter of they don’t acknowledge your existence or strike up a friendly chat.

I’d never willingly get myself into a situation thinking, “eh, I’ll be screwed if no one comes to my help, but someone surely will”.

  • I mean, yes, very likely. But what kind of a study is this? They surveyed a bit over 2500 users and then got results like:

13% had witnessed companies actively manipulating public opinion on the platform.

Which is arguably very difficult to detect if done well. A lot you just suspect that it has to be behind what you are reading, but it is not like someone will do a Scooby-Doo uncovering scene, ah it has always been corpo X behind this!

What they polled instead is how many users think they are able to spot something like this.

And I am not saying this to argue against companies manipulating reddit posts and comments. I’d argue the number is far higher than 10-15% of posts and this survey is not able to get to that.

Also, the survey is from 2018. It is bound to be much higher now anyways.

  • Geez, that frickin’ hype language.

"We… (dramatic pause, drum roll)… don’t know their end goal!!!”

”What they are saying, howeverrrrrr, we just don’t know"

Like its a harmful alien lifeform invading us. I get it, you want science to be exciting for the broad public but damn, this just sounds idiotic. It is a new structure that hasn’t been found before, we don’t know how it regulates anything and they are looking into that. I am sure you can come up with something decent halfway between what I wrote and what the article says.

  • Seriously? How has no one suggested Untitled Goose Game or did I miss it? It is frigging hilarious and if you both like humor and fooling around as a mischievous goose, it is perfect! I played it with my 7 year old and we had tons of fun, plus the ending was the cherry on top!

Edit: also, similarly hilarious but a bit more stressful to play, Pizza Possum, my kid was and is nornally absolutely not into fast-paced gaming, but this one was an expection and is also hilarious to play together and it was a blast collecting all the gadgets. We still come back to both games regularly.
