I wouldn’t be surprised if this had something to do with the impending Microsoft buyout, seeing as they’ve been putting all their PC games on Steam for a while. That being said, I also wouldn’t be surprised if Microsoft starts moving away from both Steam and Battle.net once the deal closes in favor of the Xbox launcher now that they have a ton of potential exclusives for it.

Nintendo@lemmy.world•Where do you think Nintendo will take Zelda from here?English
151·3 years agoI think they need to find a way to merge the BOTW open world with the more traditional structure of Zelda games. The issue is that those two philosophies are sort of at odds with each other, with BOTW and TOTK not wanting the player to be locked out of anything while exploring the world while the traditional structure has you unlock items throughout the game in order to solve puzzles, which there are much fewer of outside of dungeons. It can work though, if Wind Waker is any indication with its side islands.

6·3 years agoThis is still a good deal but it’s worth noting that they stopped selling the mainline Sonic games in this pack when they released Origins.

Technology@lemmy.world•Reddit Ramps Up Its Threats To Protesting Mods, As Ad Buyers LeaveEnglish
6·3 years agoAs far as I know, talklittle is focused on making a Tildes app called Three Cheers for now, and had been working it even before the announcement from Reddit. As much as it would be nice to have a Lemmy successor to RIF, the closest we’ll probably get any time soon is an app that’s just inspired by the RIF design.
I wonder if they have big plans for the series going forward if they went out of their way to create new logos for the first 3 games to match the 4th one… or some executive just wanted to keep the branding consistent.

Technology@beehaw.org•Twitter Sued for $250 Million by Music Publishers asserting Copyright InfringementEnglish
5·3 years agoI see the music industry as the “greater evil” here, but I think I’m rooting for both sides to spend a bunch of money (by normal person standards, it’ll probably be a drop in the bucket for them) on legal fees before the inevitable settlement requiring Twitter to create a Content ID-esque system for videos.

Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•I signed up for lemmy.world because I don't want to write an essay. Shout out to the lazy people.
12·3 years agoYou can still follow Beehaw communities (or ones on any other instance) from this instance, you just have to view them from lemmy.world. If you check the “all” tab under “communities” you should be able to see some of them and also search for them.

Nintendo@lemmy.world•For reasons no one can fathom, McDonald’s has released a new Game Boy Color gameEnglish
1·3 years agoI think I’d consider this more along the lines of homebrew unless it gets an official, Nintendo-licensed release for the original hardware. Star Fox 2 is in a similar boat since Nintendo did officially release it in 2017, but only as a bonus for the SNES Classic and later NSO.

2·3 years agoDo you know if there’s a drop-in replacement for PRAW in the works? It would be nice to be able to port bots over easily for communities that relied on them.
I would love to see a Lemmy app using the RIF design! The RIF developer is focused on an app for Tildes right now, but even something just copying the interface would be nice to see.
You still can’t get Rocket League on Steam on an account that didn’t already have the game bought before it was F2P. Is this the case for Fall Guys, or did they go further and stop updating the Steam version?
