Technology@beehaw.org•Microsoft is discontinuing Windows Mixed Reality
28·2 years agoShame, the early WMR headsets were a great non-Meta budget VR option. Loved my HP WMR and Samsung Odyssey+

Music@beehaw.org•What studio album disturbs you or creeps you out the most?
1·2 years agoNeil Cicierega’s Mouth Silence (2014), just because how much is hidden inside it:
Throughout the album, you may have noticed quiet and eerie low bassy wind sounds, most noticeable at the beginning or end of several songs.

4·3 years agoI’m guessing what it means is: in the HUD Layout screen, there’s a dialog box with a dropdown list of HUD elements, and they’ve just made the dropdown bigger when you click on it.

Gaming@beehaw.org•All Picross e games to be re-released on SwitchEnglish
3·3 years agoOh, definitely (and I even have a few of them), but I think Jupiter’s versions are a notch above most of them. They feel a bit more polished, IMO.

Gaming@beehaw.org•All Picross e games to be re-released on Switch

Music@beehaw.org•How is it possible that there's no good music player software for Linux like Musicbee for Windows?English
6·3 years agoIt’s been a while since I used it, but my choice on Linux was always Quod Libet, which is a smidge barebones but also really powerful (especially with tagging).

The two I follow:
- Retro Game Mechanics Explained’s blog which has a bunch of deep dives into game mechanics (shockingly)
- The Dolphin emulator blog, because their progress reports are fascinating

2·3 years agoBen & Jerry’s Americone Dream is pretty much the only ice cream I’ll eat, it’s sooooo ridiculously tasty.
I honestly don’t care what’s on reddit anymore — anyone left is likely not someone I’d want to be in a community with anyway, so it’s been easy to forget about it. (Had to go back today though to redelete my comments because they undeleted them, c’est la vie.)
I switched to DDG almost entirely because of the !w bang — Google massively downranking/hiding Wikipedia links made it a lot less useful to me.

Chat@beehaw.org•What is the most fascinating Wikipedia article that you know of?English
5·3 years agoList of unusual deaths is a classic, but Enclave and exclave is a really subtly strange topic, and I just love how detailed it is.

for FF14, I use a separate launcher, XIVLauncher, just so I don’t have to type my password in all the time, it saves it for me
