Tracks with my experiences too. Its such a stereotype that its practically the third part of military retirement: military pension, then civilian job pension, then contractor job getting paid to do almost nothing riding out retirement.
Edit: actually, fourth part. Getting approved 100% disability while civilian would be the third.

Ohio. I honestly don’t see her succeeding. Its already a pretty solidly red state, and the current governor basically made her the scapegoat for any and all covid restrictions until she was ran out of office; our covid numbers were actually fairly good compared to other states up to that point IIRC.

Sabotage is also an option, and can be nasty in winter. Make it untenable for them to stay. Keep them exposed to weather for long enough and they’ll start quitting. Break windows, break heaters, spray water on everything, etc.
