In Denmark, the youngsters have recently been saying “spurgt?” which translates to “asked?” - as in “were you asked?”. Somehow the brevity and linguistic lazyness makes it even more infuriating.
Her skal der stå et par ord om hvem man er.

I kind of wish someone would turn that statue into a dedicated cocaine table - the heirs to the sculptor are a bunch of litigious pricks.
You keep rocking your smile. I’m sure most people would rather share a beer with you than people who has to resort to bodyshaming.

World News@lemmy.world•Belgium’s future queen caught up in Harvard foreign student banEnglish
2422·10 months agoAnd I think you’re missing my point. To the Crown Princess, this is a mild inconvenience and will probably eventually turn in to an interesting anecdote. She can slide right into any other Ivy League university if she wants to, or she can head home to a local university without worrying about applications, grants or anything else of that boring stuff. To many other students, this might wreak havoc on their academic careers and their economies. That is some of the utterly stupid stuff that should be brought to attention. Tell me their stories.
Admittedly, I’m a European republican, i.e. in the non-US sense of the word, but still. This article reads more like a gossip piece than international news.

Cela n’est pas une peinture
It’s a digital image (of a painting of a dog)
The acknowledgement featured “shot(s)” which also play a very prominent part in the hit musical Hamilton, the origin of OP’s meme. It was a poor attempt on meta referential humor on my part.
I’m not quite sure if this is an intentional Hamilton reference or not, but I’m definitely not throwing away my chance to comment on it!

Consider your education and professional background and how well you’ll integrate in the workforce of whatever countries you’re looking at. Look into general unemployment rates as well as for your specific area of expertise. Can you work remotely?
Yay for foreskin! Also, how does wanking in the shower deserve down-votes? Is it due to other people waiting to get in the shower? Waste of hot water?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How likely is it that Trump will be the first President assassinated since Kennedy?
5·1 year agoNot sure why anyone would bother making it look natural/accidental?
I very much appreciate the effort to write your repsonse, and if you’re out of time or energy I completely understand.
So if I’m understanding you right, we’re 3-dimensional creatures living in a 4-dimensional universe, with the 4th dimension being… time? And time behaves completely different from the other 3 dimensions, which is why we can’t just disregard or freeze it when trying to determine a center?
That could sort of explain why it’s inherently impossible to determine the center - but that doesn’t rule out the existence of a geometric center of the universe, right?
I’m not sure if I follow the balloon analogy. Sure, you can’t find the center on it’s surface. But somewhere within the balloon, there is a center. It might be virtually impossible to determine the center while actively inflating the balloon, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t any center? What makes the rest of the universe fundamentally different from an inflating balloon? I’m genuinely curious.
Shouldn’t it be (at least theoretically) possible to find some sort of geometric center where - on average - the rest of the universe is expanding away from?
