  • The answers already mentioned are great but I want to add a bit as well. Remember that just like you or I grew up in the countries or culture/group(s) we grew up in and have some allegiance, hold dignity in or have warm feelings for, so do Russia/USSR/KGB about their countries or culture/group. Unfortunately It doesn’t seem to really matter for most people if you are in the “wrong” or not. Human nature, society and our baser instincts tell us that betraying, speaking ill, or leaving these places or things are not only bad, but a hugely taboo thing that is one of the most shameful things possible. it runs counter to the baser instincts that have allowed humans to survive as a species. Whats more in a more practical way the majority of the Russian population that the most powerful people are scared of are not really seeing the full damage wholesale. So it’s easier to dismiss concerns and issues as exceptions or “one offs” even when life is hard it’s easy to compartmentalize it. especially if your culture has an attitude of “Shut up, it could be worse!”. unfortunately Russia seems to be shaping up their population to get rid of the people that pose no risk, trying to solve the problem until they win or they cause their society to shatter. the unfortunate thing is that Russia doesn’t even fully understand all they have lost yet (no one ever truly does until it’s over and they can look back), but they may have already sealed their own fate. There is no amount of children or resources to loot from Ukraine that will undo the damage done by the current war even in the best case scenario. Russian leadership has pretty much dug their own grave as they sacrifice more and more to build their own gallows(the wartime economy that crushes nations and weapons they have neither the people, or allies to sell to).

  • Just want to clarify are you asking what people should have been paying attention to when DOGE was all they would talk about? or are you asking what what DOGE “should” have focused on?

My Best guess at timelines for when DOGE was all over the news was January to June ish: From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_presidency_of_Donald_Trump

    Timeline:

Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE): Trump establishes this new government initiative.

Implementation: DOGE is tasked with reducing federal spending and limiting bureaucracy. It has overseen mass layoffs of civil servants and efforts to dismantle agencies like the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

Executive Orders: On his first day, Trump signs an executive order related to restoring "merit-based federal hiring practices."

    Immigration Policy:

The Laken Riley Act is signed into law(Start of crackdown on anyone not a citizen) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laken_Riley_Act.

The administration revives numerous immigration laws from Trump's first term.

Procedures for mass deportations are initiated, including mass raids by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) nationwide.

Foreign Policy Withdrawals: The administration initiates the withdrawal of the United States from:

        The World Health Organization (WHO)

        The Paris Climate Accords

        UNESCO

    Ongoing from that period:

Executive Orders: Over 200 executive orders have been signed. Most have been or are currently being challenged in court.

Trade and Tariffs: The administration has overseen a series of tariff increases and pauses, including the "Liberation Day" tariffs. These have led to retaliatory tariffs from other countries and caused a brief stock market crash and market instability since then.

Russo-Ukrainian War: The administration has undertaken multiple attempts at peace negotiations to end the war that began in 2022. All have mostly failed.

Foreign Aid Freeze: The administration froze most foreign aid programs for 90 days.

Targeting of Opponents: The administration has taken action against law firms for challenging its policies and has been targeting political opponents.

It’s a big mess. Is there a specific time frame you have in mind?

  • It depends entirely on what form it is in. mined Lithium (Spodumene) smells like dirt/rocks (because surprise, surprise, that’s what it is), Metallic Lithium is very soft and reactive so it has no smell besides the mineral oil it’s often kept in (or the smell of burnt hair and a sharp metallic smell if you were silly enough to try and dry it off and smell it as it burst into flames/smoke). @EmoPolarbear@lemmy.ca covers it best when they said that it smells sweet (in a lot of batteries). I’ve heard it described before as smelling like Peardrax (sweet pear flavoured sparkling beverage) and having had it I’d agree. FYI most forms you would come into contact with are acutely toxic so maybe don’t mess with it too much.

You’re going to have a hard time getting anyone to say in any concrete way that one license or another is compatible because apple has never stated which licenses are compatible or not. they only point at the terms of service and tell you to figure it out yourself and be prepared for apple to remove it at any time if they disagree with you/your lawyer.

IANAL but in general you can choose a wide variety of permissive licenses like: MIT/ISC Apache 2 or the BSD (2/3) clause licenses

Copyleft licenses are pretty much incompatible based on most agreed upon terms but maybe you have a fleet of lawyers better than apples that are willing to fight it out :)
