Yes, but that was never the truth, it was a lie created by companies marketing a product. A big difference between now and the then is we have access to the vast majority of human knowledge in our pocket. Much easier become informed on a subject now than in the past. Some people just lack the skills to do so, or choose not to and live in a fantasy.

A well informed and well educated population. What is truth and what’s misinformation isn’t really a matter of opinion. There’s reality and there’s fantasy, some people just prefer the latter. The government and myself don’t control the flow of information.
Free speech is about being able to criticise a government without fear of reprisal. It’s not a free ticket to spread misinformation, incite violence/hate or unjustly defame a person. Your assertion that free speech must be absolute or it will lead to society where people are executed for criticising government is a complete fantasy. No country has absolute free speech, not even the USA, as much as some citizens like to believe they do.

18·3 years agoI can also relate, a classic libertarian utopia sounds great until you realise poor people exist. I think a lot of individuals are just afraid of personal growth because it often means admitting you were wrong.

Technology@lemmy.ml•Fairphone 3 gets 7 years of updates, besting every other Android OEM
3·3 years agoI believe someone else in this thread has mentioned this already, For most people the feature set on phones has been stagnant for many years. Most users have their use case met already and additional features are really just bloat (for the most part). Not all people are into tech, and a phone is simply a tool. And therefore don’t always want/need the latest and greatest.

61·3 years agoBelieve it or not, some people aren’t big on over consumption and want things to last. Companies should do better and not produce crap that’s going to end up in landfill in a few years.

6·3 years agoGood explanation. Even if their long term support doesn’t work out it’s nice to see a trend towards long term support and reduction of e-waste.

48·3 years agoThis is really good to hear. The worst thing about mid range android phones is the lack of future software support. Even flagship androids aren’t anything to write home about. As much as people like shitting on apple, they support their devices for quite a while compared to other manufacturers.

I consider obsidian a knowledge base, rather than a note taking app. I use both apple notes and obsidian for different purposes.
