I support the Center for Investigative Reporting. A lot of their work ends up on the podcast Reveal which I love for its deep dives into areas of abuse and corruption that don’t make it to mainstream news.

I just did this for a friend. I made a hearty salad that had Parmesan and prosciutto in it. I just made the dressing and put it in a different bowl so it wouldn’t get soggy.

I found 2 resources I believe I can trust. There is a snopes article that lays out the basics.
Plus a local NPR station podcast in San Francisco that goes over the whole document in 13 episodes. I’m only two episodes in so far.
I don’t think I actually want to read the 900+ page document.

That’s not entirely true. Everyone forgets there was an individual mandate penalty that his administration & congress repealed.
Anyone remember how the ACA assessed a tax on those who were not insured? (with income based exceptions). The tax was meant to feed into the ACA and keep plans in the marketplace cheaper, and to stop the program from adding to the federal deficit.
Once the trump administration came in they worked with Congress to eliminate that tax penalty.
Here is a helpful article that talks about the penalty and what the early findings showed when it was removed.

Are your Fathers’ partners (including your mother) also allowed to have other lovers?

This describes me to a tee. I plugged my ears on all of the campaign stuff knowing I was going to vote D regardless of what was happening on the politics side.
I work in international development and there is already enough sadness and frustration in keeping abreast of news in that sphere.
Now I can’t afford to blissfully ignore all US political news so I need to do some reading to understand what’s coming my way. I really hate it here.

FYI many federal employees are part of unions (with some exceptions)

Gangs of New York.
I love Scorsese and I usually don’t mind how long his films are, case in point Killers of the Flower Moon. But Gangs of New York is not only too long and weirdly self indulgent, but whatever Cameron Diaz is doing in her role is… Not great and makes me sad every time.
Edit: I realize I inverted flowers and killer in Killers of the Flower Moon.

Seconded. I joined .ml because they were the first to have a formula 1 community.
I prefer to follow the news on other instances like beehaw and .world to avoid your experience.
There are normal/non-radical communities that exist that would be lost via defederation.
I think you’ve discovered most of them. I wish the meta communities were more active. I find them very valuable.
Then again I should try harder to be the change I want to see in the world.

Lemmy.ml didn’t appear down for me today… But I’m not great at noticing these types of things so you should get a second opinion.

This is such a useful comment that I’m bookmarking this. I know that NFTs are flawed tech but I struggle to explain it well.

I guess we will see who was right this year.
Will this change lead to different strategies that allow them to score more points? Or will the shoestring budget they seem to run the team on keep holding them back?

I know that Steiner is a beloved meme, but I figure this may be the right move. They really struggled last year so something needs to change.

What I took away from this is that the Exploding Heads people never truly left, they just migrated to different instances and some are still lurking on Lemmy.
Good to know.
I’d recommend https://lemmy.world/c/general it’s a community for general discussion and people seem to post whatever with no problem.
No the above poster is right. Your wild guess is a wild guess and not based on the science which you could have googled.
