In the long run, electric vehicles can displace the oil that is refined into fuel for the internal combustion engine
Active and public transportation can just displace a bunch of gas consumers.

Avoid planting anything new for the first year. Listen to the garden and see what is has amd what it wants.
See if there are master gardeners nearby.

I’d like to tell you it gets better…

Cloth diapers can definitely be hard if you dont have on-site laundry. We were lucky enough to live somewhere with a diaper service when we didn’t have laundry.

We did use some disposables throughout (mostly for logistical reasons) but we still saved 5,000+ diapers fron landfill.

If you’ve got a young’n:

I would think capacitors would be better than batteries are grid scale? Particularly for the buffering you mention.
Metric space ships DO shoot lasers, mostly just for science or communications though. Star Wars space ships shoot turbo blaster, not lasers.
Metric space ships don’t shoot photos torpedo, but they do use photon IMUs. Star wars space ships shoot proton torpedos not photon torpedos (they may or may not use photon IMU for guidance)

Air conditioning pumps exchanges heat with the air. Fluid heat pumps exchange it with the water.
The same amount of heat is being displaced regardless; the question is how much new heat is being created by the mechanisms involved (and their related power generation).
Toronto has a similar system(s) exchanging heat with Lake Ontario (BIG thermal mass holder)
now just consider it WWII in space.
Always has been.

Revenge of the Fifth
Extremely cool article. Only one point I disagree wih with
Many people assume that handcarts go on the road, with the cars, or on the cycling path. That’s not the case: you use it on the sidewalk.
Jean Merrill documented The Pushcart War about this exact allocation of road space. Push carts belong on the road, don’t let car propaganda tell you otherwise.
Caveat: i say this from a systems perspective that cart SHOULD be on the road. Not a personal safety perspective where one might want to take the sidewalk.
I mean the one in the field.
Why is weed trimming around the supports necessary?

The world has lost over $50 billion worth of crude oil
Oh no! Did we check under the mattress?
that has not been produced since the Iran war began nearly 50 days ago
Oh, we HAVEN’T lost it. It was just a complete win.

It sure is. And the alternative is dying.
For some more applicable advice, time bound you commitment to this cause. 10 minutes a day? 2 hours a week? 10 hours a month? Doesn’t matter. Get it a set amount of time, and dont let it bleed into your other priorities often.
Thinking about something advocacy sized and slow moving all the time will burn you out. I’ve learned this through my cycling route advocacy. It gets the time I dedicate to it. No more, but no less.
