Android@lemmy.world•The days of custom Android ROMs are numbered, and Google is to blameEnglish
13·7 months agoMan I remember installing custom roms on my GALAXY S2 back in the day. I had done so much research on what was the best one, and the steps it took to correctly do. I was so nervous the first time, scared that I would brick my phone.
The little white text on the black screen… Made me feel like a movie hacker lol.

3·11 months agoThis is something I noticed with Korean apps when I was there earlier this year. I found it quite convenient, as you can make immediate comparisons to yesterday, and adjust whatever decisions you need to from there.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What game do you consider to have the best music for study?
3·1 year agoSomething I’ve been using during work these days is Maplestory bgm playlists. Reminds me of my youth, and have a very calming effect on me :)
Love the chain link fence in the back. Makes it seem more like your average local track.
Got a recurring donation to our local Cat Rescue. It’s not much but it’s a start.

I’ve always been meaning to make one of these, but always wondered how long it would take to actually use.
How long did that piece in the photo take to get flat?

4·2 years agoMy fear of this happening (which I thought was irrational) has now been validated as being real.
I used to live in an apartment that had a swimming pool built on top of some commercial units, and every time I’d swim, I had a fear of falling through.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you usually purchase digital or physical books? Why?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you usually purchase digital or physical books? Why?
2·2 years agoYeah, essentially.
Obviously made by different companies, Kindle - Amazon, Kobo - Rakuten (A Japanese multinational).
When I was doing my research on what to buy, I was weighing up between the Kindle Paperwhite vs Kobo Clara 2e.
I think most people say that the Kindle has a better selection of books available in their store (though I’ve only had one book I couldn’t find for the Kobo, but I solved that issue by purchasing it while in a different region), and the Kindle is Larger. The Kindle also has a top screen layer than makes it flush with the body.
In the end I went into a physical store to have a look at both of them, and went with the kobo, mainly due to how I preferred the smaller size.
edit - oh and just remembered as I read another comment in this thread, Kobo is compatible with Libby, which is what is used to “borrow” ebooks from your local library (I believe in most places around the world?, not too sure on that), while Kindle is not. Though I havent used it yet, as when I went looking for a few books I wanted to read, they had already been checked out by other users, and there was a waiting list for them.

Looks amazing!
I’ve saved this post as it’s giving me some ideas :))
