Just got this email. It’s better news at least but I’m not totally convinced by it just yet.

4·2 years agoI’ve sent them an email, not too hopeful I’ll get any information out of them about their pricing model going forward though.
Edit: They replied but they just gave a copy and pasted statement from the press release that Designer V2 users will own in perpetuity, nothing regarding future plans.

13·2 years agoJust bought Designer a week ago. Wouldn’t have touched it had it been a subscription. I love it so far but it will be my last purchase of any Affinity software if they move to a subscription.

Technology@lemmy.world•How Teens and Parents Approach Screen Time: Most teens sometimes feel happy and peaceful when they don’t have their phone, but 44% say this makes them anxious.English
174·2 years agoThere has to be a happy medium between not isolating your kids while also protecting them from what is a highly corrupting environment. Maybe this is just hindsight, but I look back at my unfiltered internet access as a kid and am pretty pissed off that my parents didn’t get more involved.

14·2 years agoThat’s it, it’s just the userbase size. I still unfortunately have to type ‘Reddit’ after any question I throw at a search engine but that is on the useless search engines and not indicative of Reddit being a great platform.

241·2 years agoA reliable IPTV provider is your best bet. Unless you are content with watching things a few hours later, on demand and then Kodi add-ons will be an easier option.

3·2 years agoLive sports are a bit of a pain to find a long term reliable source outside of IPTV, but something like Mad Titan or The Loop add-ons are half way decent for live stuff.

5·2 years agoThat would be a pretty long list and also highly subjective. I’m a big fan of Paradox Interactive but can see how many feel their business model of multiple paid dlc, for what are often core features, to be highly predatory. The obvious ones being EA, Ubisoft and Activision Blizzard spring to mind though.

3·2 years agoI’m on 5G here and have no problems so I don’t think that is it. If you are doing the downloads through your browser I’ve found Firefox is pretty unreliable and fails to download often. Usually hitting retry and waiting a few second fixes it though so I’m not sure if that is what is happening to you. I instead use the link grabber feature through Jdownloader and download through there. Stremio performance is flawless for me, except when Debris itself or the add-on is down.
Edit: Though I’ve never heard of an ISP doing this I presume they would be able to throttle any traffic with you connecting to a debrief server, I reckon that is highly unlikely however.

10·2 years agoI still use Authy, I know it’s frowned upon in the privacy community but it’s worked well enough for me so far. With them shutting down their desktop app though I see no reason not to switch to Aegis at some point in the near future. Just a pain in the backside setting it all up again as Authy doesn’t let you export your 2FA.

5·2 years agoYeah this is all I need. A couple of weeks ago it was going down most nights so I still have my Kodi build with Seren but it only gets used as a backup these days. Would love a few add-ons like Fights on Demand through Stremio though, only thing missing for it to be the perfect streaming solution for me.

4·2 years agoI’ve never really used them as most content I can find readily available on public sites. I do want to get access to the World Boxing Video Archive one day as that is an area that seems to be pretty barren on public sites, unfortunately it seems that the registration is forever locked. Maybe I’m wrong but they all seem pretty pointless unless you have some pretty niche tastes in which case they can make a whole lot of sense.

Still slowly making my way through The Year of the Locust. Not quite as enthralling as I Am Pilgrim however. I want to try and get through it in the next week so I can get started on The Grace of Kings.
