I mean, there has always been a correlation between being technical (as in profession/skills) and being paranoid about technology. When you are in the field, you get a window into how ignorant most of the tech products are security-wise for example. And I guess a good portion of 3d printing people - especially the ones on lemmy - are technical (as in profession/skills), not/not only tech lovers.
I agree. Yes, countries should always be prepared for crisis, but headlines like this… Man. I stopped reading media a while ago due to this, but I am still exposed to it sometimes via Lemmy.

I’m far from rich. I just live in a country where all chicken purchased from a store get enough sleep by law. And chicken from friends and family run around the yard and sleep/wake with the sun.
Neither, I just don’t purchase from these companies. I couldn’t even if I wanted to, the described practice is illegal where I live.

Huh? Maybe I live in some sort of tech-bubble, but Woocommerce is THE ecommerce platform I see small businesses use around me.
I assume they didn’t mean seasonal as in “can only be used in certain seasons”, rather that you occupy it for vacation or summer or whatever. Not sure if you are from a non-mountany or very populated country, but where I come from, mountain “hüttes” are a thing and do not contribute to the housing crisis - or at least not in the usual way I can think of. Some people choose to live in those areas, I am very envious of their courage and peace :) But 99% do not make this choice, just use it for winter/summer long get-aways.
Wow, this map is very interesting and cool! But I must state the obvious: cardinal directions very much lose meaning on this one haha, not even just a little like in some other good candidates :) And yes, we don’t need precise latitudes and longitudes anymore in these days for every-day map use - hence it is even possible to talk about changing to a more “fair” projection - , but looking in a school room at this map and trying to identify with children which direction Mexico is to Cuba becomes non-trivial. This is also a form of sacrifice in this context, which of course is up to discussion.

Bit of a weird statement, haha. Of course it is political, the scientific reality is you cannot perfectly map a sphere to two dimensions… The political part is what we agree to sacrifice, and - in my opinion completely fairly - they want to take “relative land area” off the list of sacrifices.

Not sure if you are aware, but hyprland even has a code of conduct now (check on github) due to those events. It could be argued that it is a bit lax or not as enforced as we would want, but it is a step in the correct direction. Compare that to DHH who seems to be on a straight downward trend with no signs of stopping…

I read through all the comments here, and at time of writing I kind of don’t like that Hyprland and Omarchy are both labelled as nazi software… It is mentioned in multiple comments that being an asshole developer is not the same as being a nazi, yet people still call Hyprland “nazi software”. Why? Vaxry is an asshole, but according to this nazi<->asshole categorisation, I don’t find it accurate that people here (with many likes on each such comment) rightfully call Omarchy nazi software and give examples why that is true, and then just casually attach Hyprland into the nazi category because… (???) the dev is an asshole?
I think there is quite a wide political spectrum finding your comment distasteful way before we arrive at tankie territory…
I don’t want to argue against what you are saying, it might very well be true, but my comment is about tech people being “paranoid” about tech due to experience. (At least in my country) people are familiar with a few very good quality traditional lock brands that are harder to pick, and that’s all you need, criminals don’t just go around kicking in doors and windows here. Threat model is the keyword I guess. But I’m not naive, the same will be true for consumer grade electronic locks at some point, the good quality, proven brands will be common knowledge sooner or later I guess and outweight the paranoia.
