3·3 years agoDigital Rights Management. AKA the stuff that’s supposed to prevent unauthorized copying and suchlike, but in practice just means the pirates have a better experience than legit customers.

12·3 years agoJust: Honestly, we figure Twitter will keep staggering along until its servers implode.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Any other plural folk about?
3·3 years agoMadeline: We’ve done enough reading on Schizophrenia to know that’s not what’s going on here. In addition, some acquaintances of ours have both schizophrenia and headmates, and there are very noticeable differences between the two phenomena.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Why Defederating from Facebook/Meta is So Important
31·3 years agoCat: Yeah, don’t give Meta a single inch. They need to GTFO.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•What would you like/want for a lemmy (automod) bot?English
01·3 years agoPearl: We literally live in the same brain as each other. We physically cannot separate, so we figured it made sense to just treat all accounts as collective.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•What would you like/want for a lemmy (automod) bot?English
12·3 years agoCougar: I’m just indicating who’s talking; I share the account with the twelve other people rattling around in this noggin, so disambiguating makes sense.
Pearl: And our concern isn’t someone spamming the bot, our concern is someone outsmarting it. For example, figuring out the list of “tripwires” for a given server and baiting otherwise innocent posters into getting bonked.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•What would you like/want for a lemmy (automod) bot?English
1·3 years agoCougar: It just seems way too easy to game by malicious actors, from our perspective.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•What would you like/want for a lemmy (automod) bot?English
1·3 years agoCougar: It’s not that? It’s just that a dumb automaton making judgement calls about moderation rings all sorts of alarm bells for us.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•What would you like/want for a lemmy (automod) bot?English
0·3 years agoCougar: Being honest, we really don’t trust auto-mods.
Cat: …Wait a moment, we’re using Ad Nauseam. Which stores the ads and fakes clicks on them.
Lucifer: Would that spoof the key check?

03·3 years agoCat: Oh goody, another stale meme from someone who clearly isn’t willing to actually engage without dismissing us out of hand. Not like we haven’t dealt with those before. In case you can’t tell, I’m dripping with sarcasm.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Any other plural folk about?
24·3 years agoCat: If we were doing this for attention, we wouldn’t be anywhere near this bluntly casual about it. There are people who fake plurality, but they tend to be laughably over-the-top about it.
Just: Plus, fake it long enough and hard enough and you’re liable to end up with headmates anyway.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Any other plural folk about?
14·3 years agoCat: Hah, running a Discord server’s more than enough modding for us. Absolutely no interest in modding a Lemmy community on top of that.

Cat: A nuclear lab isn’t even in the right field to make human-animal hybrids.
