Linux@lemmy.ml•Is there an Ubuntu variant these days that works on 32-bit?
3·1 year agoI’ve had luck with puppy Linux on 32-bit machines. I also got arch32 working on a few. Arch is a steepper learning curve as the arch-install script doesn’t work on 32. Related there’s quite a group keeping parabola working on all manner of systems including 32, if libre is more your style.

News@lemmy.world•2 transgender New Hampshire girls can play on girls sports teams during lawsuit, a judge rules
5·1 year agoI always thought it was open and then women. Open for any to join then a women’s team if there were enough women playing the sport. My highschool had a girl play on the football team, I think it was because we didn’t have a girls football team but w/e.
I assumed it was slang for crack cocaine users.

8·2 years agoEach nation has its own agreement with the USA that defines these things, it’s weird. I think it’s in Wisconsin where tribe members retain hunting and fishing rights to a lake sold as a private lake, when cops showed up, they had to let them fish and hunt or the land would be returned to the tribe. As per the agreement from long ago.

Why not just metric, so we can get those metric seconds, then daylight time wouldn’t matter anymore.
Yeah it really only matters what you are comfortable with, if you get units you aren’t comfortable with then it gets confusing. I almost feel like metric folk don’t realize that the USA is like 50 EU states in size, and this disconnect causes them some rage at seeing imperial units. At the human level I still can’t comprehend Celsius, mostly cuz those numbers have meanings in fahrenheit, sure makes for some cognitive dissonance to heard 35 degrees thinking you would need snow gear to hearing it’s unbearably hot.

13·2 years agoRemove lobbying.
This is an easy fix, just cruise craigslist and get a fixer upper. Put some sweat into it and boom boat owner. It wont be anything fancy, but you could get out on the water.

172·2 years agoMost of this could be done with removing lobbying and just call it what it is: bribes. I bet you, once that (which would be extremely hard to pass congress) passes america would be a lot better
