Me and my partner are doing some indoor climbing, getting lunch afterwards, getting groceries for a special dinner, cooking and dining at home, then finishing up the night with some duet Daggerheart (D&D)!

News@lemmy.world•‘I love when my enemies hate me’: how Hasan Piker became one of the biggest voices on the US left
74·5 months agoMost of the time lefties I speak with agree with Hasans analysis whether they know it or not…
I have been watching Hasan for many years and enjoy his content, but am aware that there are lefties that don’t like him. But that’s fine… When it comes to spreading stories/issues/topics, what’s important to talk about are the stories/issues/topics themselves. Hasan doesn’t need to be involved in the conversation at all (I believe Hasan has even said this himself).
Yes I find his analysis usually correct and his personality entertaining (not 100% of the time), but I can still talk about the topics covered with friends and family without mentioning Hasan. He’s just one of many ways to receive the news.
As someone trying to learn as much about Linux as possible, why specifically AMD? Does it have certain advantages with Linux?

1·9 months agoThat’s promising to hear! For the drivers are you using Open GPU?
I still have to look into the 1080s compatibility with this. Thanks OP for mentioning it.

2·9 months agoThanks! I am still very new to Linux and have been learning the OS through OpenSUSE on an old laptop. Still debating which Linux distro to switch to for the windows desktop (the one with the 1080)

2·1 year agoTrying to get my peers to care about their own privacy is exhausting. I wish their choices don’t effect me, but like this article states… They do in the long run.
I will remain stubborn and only compromise rather than give in.

Technology@lemmy.world•Telegram and xAI agreed a one-year deal to integrate Grok into the chat app; Telegram will get $300M in cash and equity from xAI and 50% of subscription revenue.English
3·1 year agoIt looks like telegram under the U.S SCA and FISA acts may be gagged from disclosing government surveillance as well in their privacy policy or terms of service.
However, their privacy policy on secret chats say this.
Secret chats use end-to-end encryption. This means that all data is encrypted with a key that only you and the recipient know. There is no way for us or anybody else without direct access to your device to learn what content is being sent in those messages. We do not store your secret chats on our servers. We also do not keep any logs for messages in secret chats, so after a short period of time we no longer know who or when you messaged via secret chats. For the same reasons secret chats are not available in the cloud — you can only access those messages from the device they were sent to or from.
This would be a lie if government agencies had backdoor access to your EE2E messages. And would potentially line themselves up to a lawsuit? However I am not a lawyer and don’t know if there are other laws that overwrite this.

6·1 year agoI thought secret chats were E2EE and weren’t stored on servers. That doesn’t necessarily mean Grok can’t read them if it’s not server side, but that’s what I’m curious about.
