Technology@lemmy.world•Stack Overflow bans users en masse for rebelling against OpenAI partnership — users banned for deleting answers to prevent them being used to train ChatGPTEnglish
24·2 years agoI am not deleting anything. They can have all of my poorly written misleading answers.
I think you are supposed to cook it for a bit under the grill and it will look fine.

Technology@lemmy.ml•How to disable Chrome’s new targeted ad tracking

One more note about safety when it comes to open source or FOSS, is that you should use only the main repository and distributions provided by the official team. Often people clone existing repo, insert malicious code and publish it as their app on play store etc.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are the best RSS feeds on the Internet?
1·3 years agoAdditional to original question what app do you use for rss? I used to use feedly, but would like something more FOSS.
You can install vim, git and ranger on termux. So the minimal setup is pretty easy to achieve.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Teaching children about online manipulation without creating a paranoid world view subject to manipulation?English
1·3 years agoIn my mind there is no them, but individuals, trying to achieve their own goals. Everyone has some incentive to misinterpret and twist truth. It might be just so it fits with their own biases and world view little better. The only reasonable way to use information online is to follow evidence based information and look for trusthworthy official sources.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Is a selfhosted VPN viable for piracy?English
6·3 years agoIf you are going to selfhost your vpn then you are going to “hide” behind your vpns ip, which probably leads to you anyway. VPN services are often contacted by authorities and why they work is because they refuse to disclose the information.

Technology@lemmy.world•Young People Have No Idea What We Used to Do After Work. Let Me Regale You.English
2·3 years agoSeems like a typical “everything was better when I was young and had energy” article. It is easy to remember good old times fondly and fail to acknowledge that young people might have same fun just slightly differently and that times might be harder for younger generation as wages are not that great and higher education is more competitive and demanding.

Although incredibly stupid statement, it aims to alienate his audience even further from any potential loved ones and make them more vulnerable to his grift.
