So a Catholic priest isn’t forbidden from consuming alcohol or other drugs, provided they were legal wherever he lives. However, he would get in trouble and perhaps defrocked if his behavior while imbibing did not reflect the morals and attitudes of the Catholic Church. I’ve seen in my childhood many a priest having a beer in the beer tent during the church festivals or enjoying wine or bourbon at a dinner with a church family. It’s expected of him to act responsibly at all times, so perfectly fine for him to do so if he can be a responsible adult about it.

I know that HubSpot has chosen to keep their internship program intact for a similar reason.

Tacking onto to that. I’ve read that historically things get worse not better in a power vacuum after a supreme leader’s death. As Putin isn’t going to relinquish power prior to his demise and he has such total control over Russia, it’s going to get worse not better once he’s gone. I can’t imagine there’s a secret pro-democracy figure in the cabal that can wrest control of the military and state to transform Russia in the next era. It’s likely that the next leader is more antagonistic towards the west as they try to consolidate power and quell domestic unrest by asserting that “external forces” are oppressing Russia. Regime change is going to be destabilizing and dangerous.

Destiny 2 has some fantastic pieces. Deep Stone Lullaby, Journey, Aethenasia (sp?) to name a few.

To be clear, it’s a tongue in cheek nod to motherfucker as well.

A “typo” in the joke

I do like the top most comment as well, but this one really hits hard to the recruiters that people stand in opposition to his bullshit.

I’m not sure that they do fully know those risks on a truly visceral level. Certainly at the 18-24 stage it was more passion than so-called “real life” experience for me. I’m not denigrating acting on that passion - it’s absolutely driven cultural conversations through generations - but I think consequences are more abstract in that era of age which allows more unfettered expression than we find in older adults. This is mostly a pedantic clarification.

I feel like maybe he hasn’t and we just prescribed things about him that were never real. He’s got a few progressive type positions (lgbt, legal weed), but beyond that I’m not sure he was ever the progressive we thought he was. We just cloaked him in things and he never disabused us of it until now where the rubber meets the road. I’m greatly disappointed, but the lesson for me is to look closer at people rather than “thinking” their beliefs align with my values.

Well damn, that just clicked for me.
