I’d get a house for me and my family. Make sure my parents have a house that meets their needs as well. I’d hire a personal trainer to get in shape and take a few months off work while I figure out what to do next.
Geeky and sarcastic, but never too cool for dad jokes. I’m a proud father of two and a member of the LGBTQ+ community. I’ll gladly debate about anything from Sony vs. Microsoft to Kirk vs. Picard, but at the end of the day, I’m all about inclusivity and respecting different opinions.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•[SERIOUS] How do you do figure out what job you want after high school?English
3·3 years agoI always liked the idea of going to a college that had a program with a work term so you can see if you like it and also get some experience. I would say talk to some people in areas that you are interested in and see if you find any jobs you may look doing.
I lurk with an ad blocker. I do still have an account and am logged in so I can vote and save some posts.
Second this. Start with an old desktop and see where you land. it’s a good starting place to see what services you like using/need. Then you can spec out a second machine to solve any pain points you have.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the general consensus on making private fediverse instances?
1·3 years agoI know a few people who have done this with Mastodon and it works quite well so far. Just like email, it doesn’t really matter where it’s hosted as long as it’s being respectful and not sending out spam.
That being said, AFAIK you can’t transfer a Lemmy account between instances yet, so if you ever change your mind and want to move to another instance, you may have to create a new account.

13·3 years agoThis reminds me of how Reddit was after switching from Digg. It feels smaller and more organic and a much more friendly environment. I just feel like I used Reddit for a lot of information and searches for troubleshooting or how to purposes. That vast wealth of knowledge feels like it may be lost.
Same with moving from twitter to a mastodon instance, feels like twitter when it was young.

1·3 years agoI second this. Sapceinvaderone has some great Unraid videos. I’d also recommend checking our IBRACORP, they have some videos about setting up Unraid just like @myxi@feddit.nl

Thanks for this! I finally decided to nuke my Reddit comments. I was mostly a lurker anyway, and I will probably still keep the account. Its too bad they have gone the way of Digg, I loved that site.
