Nah, wasn’t “we” , it was “them” who sold us on a promise, but was really a leash, or muzzle. The “them” is the oligarchs, the billionaires, the epstein class…
I have fleas. https://www.snand.org/

Oh, I know, ai was trying to point out the insanity in a few words as possible. All the solutions and conveniences we are being sold are bullshit. They are sold as helpful but just make you hate the world.
I had an Apple Watch, the simplicity of not having to take out my phone was the draw, I could see my notifications quickly and easily. All it did though was create more distraction, more digital cruft to wade through and dismiss. I get more value out of the rubber band that I have on my wrist right now than I did the Apple Watch.

Goddamn, I am so tired of modern convenience. My god we have made shit complicated in the name of simplicity.

Obviously the best part.

I know I’m the worst, but I kinda loved those commercials. Quiznos is garbage food, but I appreciated them taking a risk on something so crazy and polarizing. I guess I just have a soft spot for anyone or anything that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Thank you. I live for comments like these. I feel this sentiment is lost on most these days.

I sat next to a lady on an international flight, who took off her shoes and clipped her toenails mid-flight. Dude on the other side of me was too drunk to notice.

My coffee experience is fine thank you. Every morning I boil the kettle, hand crank the grinder while it’s heating. Combine in the French press, wait a minute, stir, wait 4-5 more, press and pour into my mug.
It’s a great morning routine, less than 10 minutes, cheap and results in a great cup. I have no interest in the coffee flavored milkshakes they serve so why would I ever set foot in a coffee shop?

I have an 86 45 shirt I used to wear during the first term. When the comey bullshit first hit the news, my father called me and told me how I shouldn’t wear violent messages, told me that I’d better watch my back if I wore something like that again. I hung up and ordered an 86 47 shirt. Wearing it today in fact.

I’m so tired of all these attempts on his life.
I’ll let you decide where the emphasis belongs in this sentence.

The fact that someone even asks this question tells me there is something deeply wrong with the culture these days. No shade on you OP, I’m sure you are a good person. But it’s obvious that corporate propaganda has worked extremely well.
No, absolutely not, you are well within your rights to buy off brand and second hand equipment. Heck, I consider it a moral victory in avoiding the hellish markups the big brands put on their consumables.
Push back when kind of question comes up, we have to counter the propaganda, otherwise it will soon become law. I’m certain home tool manufacturers would move to a printer ink model in a heartbeat. It’s bad enough that there isn’t a universal battery mount as it is.

Palantir is hungry.

I’m glad someone else sees it. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills every day lately. People don’t give a single shit, will minimize the danger and do anything they can to give up their rights, time and time again.
A few of us see it, sadly too few to matter.

Oh, agreed. But that means we have to fight harder when the system is working against us. To defeat them, we have to keep playing the game.

Right, and what I’m saying is that is the mentality the power structure is trying to make us all feel.
You vote every time, you show up every time. I’m not saying vote for anyone specifically, but don’t give up your power. It is not meaningless to fight these fuckers, and just waiting it out is the only guaranteed way they will win.

Again, that’s what they hope for. You aren’t being noble, you are just noping out when it gets hard.
It’s more important than ever now, no matter what, make everything they try to do difficult.

I’ll be honest, I don’t really care.
This is how they win, you are doing precisely what they want.

yes, work in progress actually…
I’m m an Infrastructure architect and engineer, this is the same problem in enterprise. Cloud, SaaS, proprietary vendors, they all want to lock you. Time and place for all of it, but you’ve gotta know what you are getting yourself into.
What chance does the average, non-30 year veteran of industry have? It’s bad out there.
