Coal can’t be reused, created, or otherwise obtained outside of mining. Until we remove our dependency on coal, mining will continue.

Usually around 74F in the summer but I’ll bump it if the temps outside hit the mid 90s. 64 in the winter, I like it cold. I run a portable AC in the master bedroom during the summer while we sleep. Bit of a story there.

It’s probably an unpopular opinion but I’m going to say it anyway. Trump needs brought to justice and this country needs a “come to jesus moment.” As shitty as it sounds, I don’t see a way forward WITHOUT violence. Trump is a symptom, not a cause. He just managed to push things harder and faster than those before. Something is going to come to a head, and it’s not going to be pretty, but I don’t think we as a country can truly heal until that happens.

Local backup to my Synology NAS every night which is then replicated to another NAS at my folks house through a secure VPN tunnel. Pretty simple and easy to deploy.

Mod of /r/homeimprovement here. I don’t know that “keep” is the right word but we have built an amazing community over the years. The API changes rubbed us all the wrong way (as we all mod from third-party apps) but what really clinched it was the utter abhorrent treatment of us after we shut down. We are still shut down, and reddit continues to actively threaten UNPAID VOLUNTEERS. The free content and moderation is literally the only thing keeping reddit relevant. We are actively going to force reddit to replace us or backtrack. It will likely be the former, but at least we have made them work for it. It’s sad really…I love the community but I’m not going to continue to be free labor for a company that simply doesn’t give a single shit about us or their users.

It’s crazy how the right screams that Biden is extremely left while he’s center at BEST. Just shows how far they continue to shift right. I mean hell, some of them stopped watching Fox “news” because it became too “liberal” for their taste. That should tell you a whole lot.

To be fair, I didn’t want Biden the first time either. He just happened to be not Trump. I’ll vote Biden again, but I’m not pleased those are my only (real) options. We really need ranked choice voting here in the US…

I’m of the “old fart” variety that recalls the days of IRC and totally agree. Back even before forums those communities run off servers in peoples basements were a treasure trove of knowledge and community. I have very fond memory of making real connections with people there. As you pointed out, that simply doesn’t exist on an article with comments.
