Why, at 81, would you say “yeah, I totally want to spend 2+ more years in congress”? You’ve probably got all the money and seniority.
They don’t know any other life. They don’t know anybody outside work. They don’t know what they were even doing a minute ago. They aren’t going to cause trouble.
Perhaps with a wave of young challengers we can finally get what the US deserves, a true left.
That is really not how that works. Reformers are nice, but it’s usually more militant leftists who actually get things done through direct action.
It’s always a combination of both working to put moderates in tough positions so their usual resistance is too costly.
