This amazing man was a Social Democrat! Nowadays, the actual left party is far to the right of where he was in the seventies. That’s how far the window has shifted. His speech on prejudice still gives me goose bumps every time I hear it. Palme was a rare gem.

Vietnam is one of the reasons I have hope for Ukraine. The North Vietnamese were overwhelmingly outgunned and outmanned. But they had a “win or die” mentality and spent the better part of two decades forcing the enemy to play whack-a-mole until everybody got bored and went home.

I know the history of the Shit show of what was Vietnam but I’ve never considered what would have happened had the u.s stayed out. Any more info on that?
South Vietnam is overrun shortly after the coup of Ngo Dinh Diem, Ho Chi Minh potentially isn’t sidelined by hardliners in the North Vietnamese government, Vietnam becomes Communist but with much less bloodshed and, potentially, a less authoritarian and dogmatic regime.
Vietnam woulda gone to war if we hadn’t intervened to prop them up and end the war.
