World News@lemmy.world•Japanese queue for hours as rice shortage deepensEnglish
191·1 year agoThat is wild! In Denmark I buy rice for 15 kr (~2€) / kg. Granted, it’s probably nowhere near the quality of Japanese rice. But still, what a price difference.
My language is already taken so here’s another language where I know the word: 奶酪 (nailao), first character meaning milk, second one I had to look up for the definition: “semi-solid food made from milk”

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Which country do you live in and how much paid time off work do you get?English
61·1 year agoDenmark: 30 paid days off per year, paid sick leave, some unknown amount of public holidays. Really enjoying this socialist-democratic hellhole.
I’ve set up a recurring payment - thanks for the great work!

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•When you count, your lips don't touch until 1 million.English
1·1 year agoWell thank you! Although I find Klovn to be too cringe for me, I do agree on the other statement, I feel incredibly lucky to be born here, where even born into unfortunate circumstances, it’s still possible to get a successful life.

World News@lemmy.world•Japan bus driver with 3 decades of service loses $84,000 pension after he was caught stealing $7English
8·1 year agoMy parents flew from Denmark to Canada for a month, when I was 3 months old. So I reckon you could. Depends on you, your partner, and your kid, on whether you feel comfortable travelling.
Nice, sounds very cool!
You could perhaps just flash the lights, or if they’re dimmable, turn them a lot down over eg a duration of 20 seconds
In Denmark you pay after the session - I’ve been one place where it’s monthly invoicing, and another where it was payment after each session (by credit card I think)

Probably russian comrade meat has a bit of cigarette and vodka flavour. I’ll have to admit that’s not my ideal flavour profile.
